The Spanish city Jerez de la Frontera is situated about 3 hours drive from Málaga Airport and has been chosen as the European Wine city 2014.

Jerez is world famous for its sherry and wine production and has many wineries (bodegas) which you can visit and get introduced to the wine production.

Jerez has lots more than its wine to offer.  The city itself is very charming with an old Cathedral and various monuments to visit, and you will also find many good tapas and flamenco bars.

 

If you are fan of the Spanish horses, then a must is to visit the Royal Andalusia School of Equestrian Art.  During the months of January and February the show “How Andalusian horses dance” takes place each Thursday and during the summer months several times a week.  You can also make the short visit to see the Carriage Museum and the Museum of Equestrian Art.  Tickets are from  6,5 Euros to 18 Euros depending on the visit you want to make.  For more information click here.

Jerez is also famous for its motor racing circuit – for instance 28th – 31st  January you can see the official tests for Formula 1 racing or in May you can see the Spanish Grand Prix for International Moto GP.  Click here to get more info and to reserve tickets.

And finally for the children you will also have the Zoo Botanico which is one of the biggest zoo in Andalucía with animals from all over the world. The zoo is closed on Mondays until the 15th of June so check the opening hours before you head of.
