The Malaga Fair is here. Without a doubt, it is one of the most important festivals in Andalusia in summer, and it is a great opportunity to enjoy numerous activities surrounded by the best atmosphere.
In today’s article, we bring you a detailed guide with all the information you need to know about the Malaga Fair, as well as tips and recommendations that will make this festival one of your best experiences on the Costa del Sol. Let’s get started!
1. When does the Malaga Fair start?

This year, the Feria de Málaga takes place from the 15th of August until the 22th of August, both inclusive. The Fair actually starts on the night of Friday the 14th of August with its inauguration, and during the week you can enjoy either the Day Fair or the Night Fair. Here are more details:
1.1. Inauguration of the Fair
The inauguration of the Fair takes place on the night of the 14th of August in the historic centre of Malaga, where visitors can enjoy a parade, a light show with drones and finally, the long-awaited fireworks that mark the start of the week.
As in previous years, the Fair begins with a speech by an official pregonero (town crier). This year, the person chosen is Javier Castillo, a popular author from Malaga.
1.2. Day Fair in Málaga 2026
The Feria de Día takes place in the morning and late afternoon, with people from 12.30h until approximately 18.00h. It is the perfect occasion to enjoy a great atmosphere and live music, but keep in mind that these are the hottest hours of the day, with temperatures of up to 35º.

1.3. Night Fair in Málaga
If you prefer to enjoy cooler temperatures and you also like to go out at night, then the Night Fair is for you.
People start arriving at the Night Fair from 20.00h onwards, and you can find the atmosphere and the “casetas” open until 06.00h.
2. Where does the Feria de Málaga take place?
Something that characterises the Malaga Fair is that it takes place in two different locations, and depending on whether you want to go to the Day Fair or the Night Fair, you will have to go one way or the other.
2.1. Historic Centre of Malaga
Malaga’s historic centre is the setting for the Day Fair – Feria de Día. Concerts take place in the most important squares and streets. In addition, it is very common to find bars and areas where you can order tapas and drinks (the most famous drink is the Cartojal, a sweet wine that is served very cold). The jewel in the crown at the Feria de Día is undoubtedly the Facade, which is located at the entrance on Calle Larios. This peculiar entrance is more than 5 metres long, and is characterised by a different design every year (but always focused on these festivities). This was last year’s facade, isn’t it amazing?

Some of the most atmospheric squares are Plaza de Las Flores, Plaza de la Constitución, Plaza de la Merced or Plaza del Obispo among others, although you can find significant decorations and elements in many places.
2.2.Recinto Ferial Cortijo de Torres
The Night Fair – Feria de Noche – is located on the fairground called “Recinto Ferial Cortijo de Torres”, which you will find next to the congress centre. It is a dedicated space for this event as well as other fairs and outdoor events.
During the Malaga Fair, the fairground is divided into different areas. If you pass by the entrance of the Fair, on the left hand side, you will find the attractions area (for children and for older people). On the right hand side, there are 3 streets where visitors can choose between more than 200 stalls (casetas) for eating and dancing. Keep in mind that there are stalls for all tastes: flamenco, live shows, young people… you decide!
As for the layout of the fairground, here is last year’s map. The City Council has not yet released the updated version for this year.

3. What you will see at the Málaga Fair
The Malaga Fair is the perfect opportunity to witness the most traditional and characteristic atmosphere of Andalusia.
During the Day Fair – Feria de Día-, it is common for women to dress up in traditional flamenco costumes, with thousands of combinations of colours and accessories, but without losing the essence. On the fairground during daytime you will also see beautiful decorated horse carriages.

Undoubtedly, the Feria de Día is characterised by a very festive atmosphere with live music in which the warm temperatures are enlivened with cold drinks, such as the Cartojal mentioned above. You can’t miss the most typical tapas either: pescaíto frito (fried fish), or jamón serrano (cured ham) among others.
The City Council of Málaga has just announced the performances and concerts scheduled in the city centre for summer 2025. Explore this complete guide to live music events happening in Málaga during the summer season.
The Night Fair is less traditional, although in the afternoon you can still see horses in the streets of the fairgrounds, as well as enjoy the shows. When it gets late in the evening, people visit the rides or go to the stalls, which close in the early hours of the morning.
4. How to get around during the Feria
During the Feria, there are road closures that mean more traffic at peak hours or longer journeys by car. Therefore, if you are going to rent a car during the Feria de Málaga, we recommend that you use applications such as Google Maps where you can see the live traffic conditions as well as possible alternative routes to reach your destination. We also advise you to park in areas away from the historic centre and use public transport to go to the centre or to the fairgrounds. For this week there are specific bus lines running from the Centre to the Fairgrounds (Line F).
