Getting to Motril
Posted on 21 December 2014Getting to Motril means flying into Malaga, Granada or Almeria Airport.
Whichever Airport you fly into it is far easier to drive to Motril than catch any other form of transport. There are not any direct buses or trains from any airports to Motril and the costs of return taxi transfers will more than likely exceed the costs of hiring a car for your trip.
The closest Airport to Motril is Granada Airport. Granada is around 65 kms north of Motril and is connected by the A44 / N323A. The journey from Granada Airport to Motril should take around 1 hour. Using a hire car from Granada is more cost effective then mounting taxi costs. The disadvantage is that there are only one flight connection with the UK.
Malaga Airport is about 100 kms to the west of Motril and out of the three airports offers the greatest selection of flights. The driving directions from Malaga Airport to Motril are fairly easy: You follow the N340 towards Almeria from Malaga. The journey should take around 1 hour and twenty minutes.
The last Airport, Almeria, is the furthest away but gives an alternative airport with a bigger selection of airlines than Granada Airport.
Driving between Almeria Airport and Motril should take between 1 hour and fifteen minutes and 1 hour and 45 minutes. The actual length of the journey is about 113 kms and it is a fairly straightforward journey along the N340 from Almeria towards Malaga.
