Cadiz is an ancient harbour city in beautiful Andalucia, Spain. Visit the Roman Theatre

The remains of the ancient Roman theatre were discovered in Cadiz as recently as 1980. This important tourist attraction was built during the 1st century BC and has had a curious history since. It is one of the largest theatres ever built by the Romans, but it was abandoned in the 4th century, and a fortress was built over it in the 13th century by King Alfonso X of Castille.

The theatre once featured a seating area of 120 metres in diameter and was able to accommodate 10,000 spectators. The theatre was famed enough to be mentioned by classical authors such as Cicero. It is free to visit the remains of this historic location, and it provides a fascinating glimpse into Ancient Roman life.

Experience Cadiz Cathedral

One of the major attractions in Cadiz is its stunning cathedral, located on Plaza de la Catedral, along with a 17th-century baroque church. Cadiz Cathedral was built over 100 years between 1722 and 1838. The magnificent place of worship features baroque, rococo, and neo-classical design elements, making for a suitably impressive visual spectacle.
