Exploring Benalmadena

Posted on 21 December 2014

If you are holidaying in Benalmadena then you are in a perfect position for exploring the Costa del Sol. With your hire car from Helle Hollis you have a great way to explore the area. There are many stunning views to see in Benalmádena and using a hire car in Benalmadena is a great way to explore and take in as many of the sights as possible.

Benalmadena

Benalmadena itself has a great many things to keep you busy, several theme parks of which you can visit using a hire car, 9kms of beaches and a great Marina. In Benalmádena village you have the Butterfly Museum “Mariposario”, the stunning Enlightment Stupa and also the local museum with pre-columbian art.

In Arroyo de la Miel you will find Selwo Marina, the cable cars to the mountain Calamorro and the park “La Paloma”.  Next to the Marina you will find the Sea Life aquarium with over 2000 different marine especies.

If you are staying there for longer than a few days then it is worth getting out and seeing the neighboring resorts and other parts Andalucia.

Benalmadena itself is sandwiched between Torremolinos and Fuengirola. It is around a 15 minute drive from Malaga Airport and 20 minutes by car into the City center of Malaga. In Arroyo de la Miel you will also find the local train that takes you to Malaga, Torremolinos or Fuengirola.

As Malaga City is so close to Benalmadena then it is worth a visit. Before you plan your trip remember that Malaga still closes during the afternoons for Siesta. Normally this means that the shops close at around 2pm and open again at 5pm. In the meantime why not explore the area by car, take some photos and soak up the sun.

From Benalmadena you can also drive down to Gibraltar. The drive to Gibraltar from Benalmadena will take around 1 hour.  We recommend that you park the car in La Línea and cross the border walking.  Don´t forget to bring your passports along.

Both the Pound and the Euro can be used in Gibraltar and if you get the chance then head up to the top of the rock where a colony of Barbary Apes live and the views to Africa are amazing.

The other coastal resorts such as Marbella, Puerto Banus and Estepona are all within easy driving distance of Benalmadena as are the wonderful Spanish Cities of Seville and Granada.
