Guide to Benalmadena
Posted on 21 December 2014Benalmadena can be found just to the west of Malaga Airport. In fact after Torremolinos it is the easiest holiday resort to reach from the airport.
Benalmadena is great for people with kids. There’s plenty to do and see and there just happens to be some great beaches as well.
The whole area of Benalmadena is split up into three main parts, Benlamadena Costa, Arroyo de la Miel and Benalmadena Pueblo (village).
If you want to explore the area in detail then why not consider to hire a car? Helle Hollis can provide you with a vehicle for your own personal convienience.
The village is a typical white, hillside Andalucian Village with narrow streets and a great selection of restaurants and some fantastic views down towards the sea.
Just on the outskirts of the village you will find Europe´s largest stupa with a breathtaking view of the Coast and the Butterfly Museum.
Arroyo de La Miel is where the main commercial and residential areas of Benlamadena can be found and it is sandwiched between the coast and the mountains.
Benalmadena Costa is as the name suggests on the sea front. This part of the Costa del Sol enjoys over 9km of beaches.
Tivoli world is one of the biggest and best tourist attractions in Benalmadena. Tivoli World tries to cater for both the parents and the kids with some beautiful gardens, shows and of course the rides. Because of the hot summer weather Tivoli World opens between 6pm and 2am in July and August. In the Winter Tivoli is closed and open up again for March month.
You can explore many other areas with the benefit of a Helle Hollis rental car such as Fuengirola, Marbella or Malaga city.
Other Theme parks that are worth visiting in Benalmadena are the Sea Life Center which you can find on the sea front at Benalmadena Marina and Selwo Marina which is set back from the main promenade in Benalmadena. Next to Selwo Marina you will also find the beautiful park ” La Paloma” with the extensive área of 200.000m2 to walk around. You can also find a Crocodile Park in neighboring Torremolinos and a small Zoo, Bioparc, in Fuengirola.
In Arroyo de la Miel you will next to Tivoli find the cable car that goes to the peak of mountain Calamorro. Enjoy the view of the Coast from the top of the mountain.
Benalmadena Marina is in my opinion the best marina on the Costa del Sol. Some people would argue that Puerto Banus is prettier but the Arabic Style of Benalmadena Port and the way that the whole front is traffic free is definetely an advantage.
