Out and about with Helle Hollis – Spend a day in Antequera
Posted on 26 October 2012
This small city (or large town) is BIG on interesting monuments and steeped in history. The drive from the coast shows some of the great landscape contrasts we enjoy here – you can start you visit with the Dolmen which is considered one of the best in Spain . you’ll see it on your way to the city.
When you’ve secured a good parking place in the centre, then have a stroll around the museum which will lead you through the history of Antequera in it’s full glory. From there you can stroll around to the church of Santa Maria, El Carmen and the Alcazaba.
Antequera is famous for its bread rolls called “Mollete” and the “thicker” gazpacho called “porra” with ham – so treat yourself with a traditional Spanish meal while visiting. Another “special” from Antequera is one of our bus drivers José Melero!!
Antequera is about 47 km from the Airport and can easily be reached on the motorway A-45 or the toll road AP-46.
