OUT AND ABOUT with Helle Hollis – A visit to Benahavis and the El Castillo restaurant
Posted on 05 February 2013The sweet and white little village of Benahavis is situated just a few kilometres north of San Pedro Alcantara.
Benahavis is well known for its many restaurants and the centre of the village is full of them. One of them is the Restaurant El Castillo located next to the tower from the 1100s that belonged to Benahavis Castle, the tower and part of the castle wall is part of the restaurant’s exterior. It was the Moorish “king” Havis, who named the village of Benahavis – son of Havis and the historic setting gives a special romantic atmosphere, in autumn the restaurant’s “castle hall” is open. As long as it is warm, dinner is offered on the courtyard terrace overlooking mountains and sunset.
