Exploring Sierra Nevada

Posted on 21 December 2014

The main town in the Sierra Nevada is Pradollano so when most people say they are going up to the Sierra Nevada they mean they are going to Pradollano.

Sierra Nevada

From Pradollano you can access around 65kms of ski runs from November to March and there are slopes and runs available for people of all abilities.

The village itself has a lively nightlife and has a great selection of pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants. You will also find shops selling the full range of ski equipment.

If after you have spent sometime on the slopes you feel like exploring the area then you could head for any of the other four national parks that are within the Granada Province, take a trip into Granada itself or head south for about 70 kms until you reach the coast.

The four other National Parks in Granada are: The Sierra De Baza, the Sierra De Huetor, the Sierra De Cantrill and the Sierra De Alhama Tejeda and Almijara. All of them offer amazing scenery, peace and quiet and an unexpected view of life in Spain.

A few people are also starting to combine their skiing holiday with some sun and sand down on the Costa Del Sol. From the Sierra Nevada you can drive down to the Costa Del Sol in about 90 minutes.

It’s strange to think that you can be sitting in the Sierra Nevada in the morning enjoying a snow holiday and weather permitting, be sitting on a beach on the Costa Del Sol in the afternoon.
