Exploring Torremolinos
Posted on 26 November 2014If you drive 10 minutes to the west of Malaga Airport you will be in Torremolinos. The proximity to the airport is what helped put this former sleepy, fishing village on the tourism map.
The roads along the Costa del Sol are in excellent road conditions and you are able to drive from one end of the Costa Del Sol to the other in traffic free ease.

Torremolinos neighbours Benalmadena and Malaga City. In some ways there could not be a bigger contrast between the two neighbouring towns.
Benalmadena is a lively seaside resort whose population explodes during the busy summer months and whose cafes, restaurants and bars largely cater with the English tourists in mind.
Malaga on the other hand is an Old Spanish City with some fantastic architecture, the Picasso Museum, Carmen Thyssen Museum, Pompideu Museum, CAC museum and the Russian Collection Museum. Furthermore has a host of Spanish restaurants and tapas bars.
From Torremolinos you can easily explore the rest of the Costa del Sol and Andalucia. You can drive from Torremolinos up to Seville in around 2 hours and although it may be a bit much to go up and back in one day it may be worth considering an overnight stay in what is the capital city of Andalucia.
If you are happier just pottering around the Costa del Sol then you should try and visit Marbella, Puerto Banus and Estepona to the west and Nerja which is about 65 kms to the east of Torremolinos.
