The Malaga Carnival is a festival that brings lots of joy. Specifically, it takes place between the week of the 3rd and 11th of February. This annual event offers a wide range of activities for all ages. The most outstanding by date are:

Saturday 3 February: The carnival week starts with an opening speech and the election of the "Dios Momo" and "Diosa del Carnaval". The Cervantes Theatre will host the main gala where the audience will be able to enjoy the performances of the different groups.

Sunday 4 February: At 18.00 the Grand Parade will take place through the centre (from the Esplanada de Santo Domingo to the Plaza de la Merced).

Saturday 10 February: In El Palo, a gastronomic and coplas festival will be held. The Centre hosts activities such as the Parade of animation groups and Gods (from Plaza de la Constitución to Calle Granada), the Battle of Flowers (Calle Larios) or the great night of costume (Plaza de la Constitución).

Sunday 11th February: The Carnival ends with the "Entierro del Boquerón" (a tradition among carnival-goers where they say goodbye to the Carnival by burning a pinata in the shape of an anchovy on La Malagueta beach. During the afternoon there will also be a parade at 17:30.

It takes place between the week of the 3rd and 11th of February 2024.
