So, after marvelling at the fantastic Islamic architecture, it makes sense that the meal you sit down to afterwards is equally as impressive. Bodegas Mezquita<\/a> is popular for its tapas, however, the menu offers so much more. Situated mere metres away from the Mezquita, the informal tavern has over 40 dishes on offer, with an extensive wine list to match.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur menu consists of tapas and dishes to share, which are served in the restaurants. Our traditional Cordovan cuisine represents a fusion of the three cultures that settled in the city (Christian, Jewish and Islamic). All the dishes are prepared with local products: extra virgin olive oil, Montilla-Moriles wine and Iberian cold meats from Valle de los Pedroches, to name a few,\u201d Bodegas Mezquita tells us.<\/p>\n

The quality of produce used at Bodegas Mezquita is exceptional and is reflected in the dishes produced. From salmorejo Cordob\u00e9s (cold cream of tomato soup, garnished with olive oil, serrano ham and chopped hard-boiled egg) and caliphate eggplants (beer aubergines battered with wine reduction and sesame seeds Pedro Xim\u00e9nez) to oxtail Cordovan style simmered with local wine and vegetables you\u2019ll be sure to find something on the menu to tantalise your taste buds.<\/p>\n

Noor<\/h2>\n

Despite having a varied career that saw him overseeing restaurants in Madrid, Rio de Janeiro and Menorca, there is no mistaking that the food served at Noor<\/a> is Andalusian. With its heritage, culture and history central to the dishes, the three menus on offer have been \u201cdesigned according to the Almoravides and Almohades empires, which was in the Iberian Peninsula in XXII century\u201d, the restaurant tells us.<\/p>\n

Described by themselves as \u201ca different restaurant that makes historic dishes in modern key\u201d, your whole night has been carefully orchestrated, from the attentive waiters to the presentation. Noor has been awarded a Michelin Star, which their dining experience reflects. Here, you can choose from one of the three set menus, either the Reino Bereber, Reino Tuareg or the Reino Almoravide and can expect to enjoy between 10 and 22 dishes, with a wine pairing menu also on offer.<\/p>\n

Caballo Rojo<\/h2>\n

Michelle from Andalucia.com<\/a> has a favourite restaurant that she would recommend visitors to C\u00f3rdoba to visit. She loves Caballo Rojo<\/a> \u201cbecause it serves Cordobese cuisine and has a traditional Andalusian Patio\u201d. The heritage of C\u00f3rdoba is integral to the menu, which draws inspiration from its history involving Romans, Arabs, Jews and Christians. Although the dishes on the menu are not prepared to the exact standard that they may have been historically, the ingredients used to replicate the dishes as closely as possible, giving those who visit an unforgettable gastronomical experience.<\/p>\n

After undertaking thorough research, reading old manuscripts and historical documentation, Caballo Rojo begins to create the recipes, sourcing local ingredients that make each dish as fresh as possible. Quality is of paramount importance at this restaurant, and it is evident through the meat and fish that is used to produce each dish. With a wine menu that perfectly complements the menu, you\u2019ll be able to acknowledge the care that has been put into every inch of this restaurant.<\/p>\n

Maridame<\/h2>\n

With a gorgeous rooftop providing sweeping views out over the Mezquita, Maridame is a fabulous spot to sit down to enjoy a meal. Using exclusively local ingredients, each dish has been crafted using traditional recipes from C\u00f3rdoba, as well as in a style as close to how it would\u2019ve originally been made.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur most note-worthy specialities include Mazamorra (chilled almond and bread pur\u00e9e) with orange marmalade and smoked cod, Patatas Bravas (potatoes in Cayenne sauce) Mar\u00eddame-style and the mushroom risotto with seasonal vegetables and frozen cheese and quince pearls. In the meats section, we recommend the oxtail meat on marrow bone and confited artichokes and the lamb terrine with quinoa, dates and orange blossom water. Some of the must-try fish dishes include \u2018Charred\u2019 cod with aioli and Montilla-Moriles dry sherry, and the Atlantic Bluefin tuna with white sesame seeds, shrimp bread and beetroot sauce,\u201d the restaurant says.<\/p>\n
