With the province of Albacete to the north, Alicante to the east and Granada and Almeria in the west, Murcia is an excellent base with good transport links via the motorways from which to explore this corner of mainland Spain.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hellehollis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/exploringmurcia.gif\"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1304\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hellehollis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/exploringmurcia-249x300.gif\" alt=\"Murcia\" width=\"249\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you are based in the City of Murcia, it is well worth driving to the coast to the fishing town of Aquilas and white dunes of El Mojon beach in San Pedro del Pinatar. Full of tiny fishing villages like La Azohia or Cabo de Palos or the port in Mazarron, exotic beaches of Calblanque and Calnegre, and finally the luxurious and spectacular resort of La Manga del Mar Menor. Here and in Mazarron and Aquilas you will find sailing schools and be able to take windsurfing and waterskiing lessons. This is a major tourist attraction which can be seen from miles around.<\/p>\n<p>To view some of the stunning views such as the cathedral Murcia car hire is a great way to get around.<\/p>\n<p>Finally is the Huerta which occupies a plain between two parallel mountain ranges where the Segura flows out to the sea.
