Byen Almeria ligger ved foden af bjerget med det enest\u00e5ende arabiske\u00a0f\u00e6stning “Alcazaba” med dens\u00a0tre store indhegnet pladser. En anden del af dette omr\u00e5de ligger der ruiner af en mosk\u00e9 som blev konverteret til kapel af den katolske konge.\n<\/p>\n

Kapellet\u00a0blev bygget\u00a0i det sekstende \u00e5rhundrede da den sydlige del af Spanien var truet af invasi\u00f3n fra den tyrkiske h\u00e6r og nordafrikanske pirater. Det store alter i kirken har et tabernakel fra det attende \u00e5rhundrede, malerier af Alonso Canon og en statue af patronen og beskytteren af Almeria, St Indaletius.<\/p>\n

Museet i byen har genstande\u00a0fundet af den kendte Belgian Louis Sired.<\/p>\n
