Rentacar Mijas Guide to Mijas |
|
Mijas is an area that lies just to the west of Malaga and unusually contains both a coastal area and a mountain area. The whole area has a population of somewhere in the region of 55,500 people and roughly 35-40% of these people are foreigners who have moved to Spain. Mijas Village is a typical white Andalucian Town that literally clings to the side of the mountain. The village is kept cool by the sea breeze off the Mediterranean and is definitely worth a visit. The Mijas Village has an outstanding view, why not take more sights in with Mijas car rental, with your own personal hire car you could find yourself scaling the mountain area or visiting other Andalucian areas. Mijas Village has a large number of restaurants and cafes serving a range of Spanish and International food throughout the day and of course, into the evening. Over the summer months the Village is alive with people out for an evening stroll, the shops are open and you can even hire a Donkey Taxi to take you around the town. Mijas car rental is a popular choice as the village is based at the side of a mountain. The Donkey taxis are very popular in Mijas and you can find them in one of the main Squares where the car park and coach stops are. The Donkey Taxis cost 7 euros for a single donkey or 10 euros for a donkey pulling a small coach. |

Mijas Costa as the name suggests is the part of Mijas that runs along the coast. Mijas Costa is blessed with roughly 12kms of Beaches that range from small coves to large stretches of sandy beaches. La Cala beach has been awarded the European Blue Flag for its facilities and cleanliness. On Wednesdays and Saturdays you can find street markets down on Mijas Costa. The Wednesday market is held at La Cala de Mijas and on Saturdays there are two markets, one at La Cala de Mijas and the other at Las Lagunas. The markets are generally open between 9am and 2pm and sell a wide range of leather goods, gifts and handbags. For golfers there are 6 golf courses in Mijas, Mijas Golf International, Miraflores, La Cala Resort, La Siesta, La Noria and Santana Golf. Unlike the UK and the rest of northern Europe summer golf is cheaper and easier to book than winter golf! Finally if this isn't enough to keep you busy then head to the Hipodromo racecourse in Mijas. The racecourse holds regular Saturday night meetings during the summer and Sunday race meetings in the winter. |
