If you drive 10 minutes to the west of Malaga Airport you will be in Torremolinos. The proximity to the airport is what helped put this former sleepy, fishing village on the tourism map.

You can drive from Torremolinos up to Seville in around 2 hours and although it may be a bit much to go up and back in one day it may be worth considering an overnight stay in what is the capital city of Andalucia.
If you are happier just pottering around the Costa del Sol then you should try and visit Marbella, Puerto Banus and Estepona to the west and Nerja which is about 65 kms to the east of Torremolinos.
